Bit of History

The OpenAI foundation is a leader in the field of AI and Human interactions. It was founded in 2015, with the goal of developing and promoting friendly AI in a way that benefits humanity as a whole.

Project Dall-E creates images representing your thoughts. Just enter a piece of text and the system generates a bunch of images representing the thought behind it.

GPT (current version GPT-3) enables people to have a natural conversation with an AI-powered system. You can try it out for yourself here. Unlike the Google AI or Alexa assistants, it is tuned to specifically be able to have a natural conversation with knowledge gathered from across the globe.

The need for a better chatbot

While GPT-3 was revolutionary in itself, it was limited by what it could understand. If you talk to it about something that never happened, or about which there is not enough data on the internet, it failed to continue the conversation in a natural manner.

On top of that, GPT-3 often responded with racially or sexually offensive and even violent content. Naturally, it could not truly serve the purpose of being a natural communication partner for humans.

ChatGPT

Built on top of GPT-3.5, ChatGPT was quietly unveiled to the world on November 30, 2022 as a general-purpose chatbot that can engage with a range of topics, including programming, TV scripts, and scientific concepts.

ChatGPT is purpose-trained to have a natural conversation with humans. It does away with some of the limitations of GPT-3 by filtering offensive content, and also being able to drive conversations.

The chatbot is available for free, and you can try it out for yourself.

As soon as it was released, it almost broke the internet with enthusiasts, AI fans…
